Happy New Year! I hope your year is off to a great start!
We are a couple of weeks into the new year and our new name: Vibrant Health – Wyandotte Neighborhood Clinics. It has been an exciting but challenging time as we work through the kinks of merging three clinical operations. We have an incredibly committed group of people, focused on helping families in our community.
Vibrant Health services are needed now more than ever. Thousands of families fall in the “coverage gap” the hole created without statewide Medicaid expansion that leaves families making too much money to qualify for Medicaid coverage, and too little to afford a plan through the Affordable Care Act. We operate with a sliding fee, which means families without coverage pay a nominal fee to access services at our locations.
Our mission is to provide respectful, empowering, high quality health care for the community. We are working hard to reduce health disparities and improve access to care for families in Wyandotte County. We will provide more than $1.3 million of charitable care this year through three clinic locations, a school-based dental outreach program, refugee health assessments and a teen maternity program. It is due to philanthropic support from foundations, corporations and individuals, that makes this possible.
There is a lot of work ahead of us in 2018, to be sure. But we are excited to take care of more patients and to increase the services we offer that support healthy neighborhoods and a healthy Wyandotte County.
